MLM Yes or No

MLM….Multi-Level-Marketing

The purpose of MLM marketing

The main purpose to join a MLM marketing is to generate an income, whether full time or part time.

Work from home

First the MLM tells you that you get a website of your very own.  But then they tell you that you can advertise But you have to get your advertisement company approved.

When you get  your very own website address it has their name on it with a slash (/) and your name or the name of your business.

Most MLM companies gives you a cookie cutter website, which means it looks like ever body else’s, and you are to contact your friends and family to go to your website and get them to sign up under you.

And you also try to get customers to buy your product or service.  This way you form your “leg” of customers and anyone who buys or signs up that’s under you…, you get a commission.  That’s down to a given point.

Then you lose the one’s that sign up under you after that given point.  Usually that point is five or six lines down.  Because they can’t continue paying commissions forever,  they would run out of money.

The expense

MLM can sometimes get expensive, because you are driving to meetings and take a prospect with you, so they can get caught up in the hype and sign up or buy from you.  And of course this method sometimes calls for you to wine and dine the prospect.

The drawbacks of MLM

MLM can make you loose a lot of friends and even get you alienated from your family.  Because they automatically think you are going to try to get them to sign up on something.  And that’s not a good thing. People try to avoid you like the plague!

Then there is always the upgrade after upgrade after upgrade.  Which usually cost you more money.  But you know as they say “It takes money to make money”.  Wrong!

A lot of people avoid MLM’s because they are afraid they wont make much money or any money.  And you know that you are feeding the up line.  Because the upline is always telling you how much money they are making.

If you aren’t doing as well as the upline thinks you should.  They start telling you to make a list of 100 people you know or are friendly with or even sort of know.  Those people are to be your prospects.

If the list doesn’t work, then they tell you to get these people on the phone on a three way call.  They try to sell them by telling how much money they make and how easy it is to make a lot of money.  Of course they do this because they know if you make a sell it fattens their pocket!  To me this sounds very pushy.

Conclusion

MLM Marketing– If you are going to join a MLM,  be sure you pick a reliable company that has a good track record.  Don’t invest in a questionable company.  One that has no background.  That is unless you have the funds to spare.

They must have a product/products or service to sell.  So do your do-diligence in researching the company before you jump in.  If it’s got some gray areas…RUN!

Let me say this, there are some MLM’s that have been in business a long time.  For instance Avon, Tupperware, Mary Kay and Amway. They have shown the world that this type of marketing can work.

Alternative to MLM

If you still want to work online, I have a suggestion.  You don’t have to bother your friends or family.  You don’t have to get people to sign up under you.  And you don’t have to build a “LEG”.

It is not a MLM, it’s Wealthy Affiliate.  This program teaches you how to build a website, and how to be an affiliate for any company that offers an affiliate program.

You learn from in depth lessons, videos, live chats, classrooms and much more.  When you learn the process, you will be able to start a business and feel good about it.

You get paid commissions on all the sales you funnel through.

If you want to work online and you have questions or concerns, leave a message in the comments box below.  I will answer you as quickly as possible.

  1. I’ve known a lot of MLM schemes and most of them never actually earn money for the members. The meager income will eventually be eaten by the annual membership fees or be used to buy the minimum product purchase to stay as active member. Of course, there are few exceptions like Avon and Tupperware but interests on these products eventually wane to the point that it is no longer financially viable to stay as member.
The main drawback of most MLM schemes is the requirement to have upline and downline which ultimately saturates the market. You are lucky if you start first but those at the bottom will be lucky to recoup their initial investment.
I am through with MLM and would not recommend it to any of my friends and family.
Wealthy Affiliate can hardly be lumped among these MLM companies in the sense that there are no uplines and downlines. There are many ways to earn and you are not solely dependent on recruiting anyone just to earn money.

    1. You are not going to believe this, but I was involved in three MLMs before I learned my lesson, Some of us are hard learners. But I finally got it.

Thanks for taking the time to read this post.
